Korte & Luitjohan Contractors, Inc., established in 1958, is a family owned, full service general contractor serving Central and Southern Illinois. With $500 borrowed from his father-in-law to buy a rubber tired trencher and a backhoe, Cyril B. “Pete” Korte began installing gas services for Illinois Power in the City of Highland. A year later, Pete’s brother-in-law, Joe Luitjohan joined him in the underground utility business. For 23 years, the company expanded its reputation as a quality underground utility contractor.
In 1981, Pete bought Joe’s interest in the company, and by 1984, the company outgrew the underground utility market, and started its first project in the heavy construction market with its first Wastewater Treatment Facility Expansion Project. Determined to grow, Korte & Luitjohan Contractors steadily expanded its scope in three major construction markets – building, heavy and utility.
Since 1984, Korte & Luitjohan Contractors’ portfolio has included water and wastewater treatment facilities, county incarceration centers, production and warehouse facilities, restaurants, YMCAs, schools, a museum, office buildings, medical and dental offices, hospitals, corporate headquarters, churches and power plants.
Today, with more than 50 years experience and a diverse inventory of construction knowledge among its staff, rarely found in a regional General Contractor, Korte & Luitjohan Contractors turns out impeccable projects for dissimilar clientele in the building, heavy and utility markets. With its ability to self-perform carpentry, concrete work, piping and excavating, Korte & Luitjohan Contractors maintains a high degree of control over the entire building process for a very competitive price. We can lead our clients efficiently through the design and construction process.
